Rosacea is a chronic condition that is characterised by flare-ups and remissions throughout the lives of sufferers, causing facial redness, pimples, and visible blood vessels on the face. Some patients may also experience swelling and irritated eyes. Rosacea most commonly appears on the cheeks, nose, chin, forehead, and eyelids. Though there is no known cure, the symptoms and appearance of rosacea can be controlled and improved to ease the experience of those who live with it. Tips to Manage Rosacea

According to the American Academy of Dermatology, here are some tips for managing rosacea.

Learn what foods and drinks cause your rosacea to flare (common things include spicy foods, hot drinks, anything with caffeine and red wine.) You can try and keep a record or journal of everything you eat and drink and when you get flares. This will help you discover which foods and beverages cause you to flare.

Protect our skin from extreme temperatures. Very hot or cold temperatures often worsen rosacea. You can reduce flare-ups by not overheating.

1. – In the cold, you can cover your face with a scarf to help protect your skin. {Make sure the scarf’s material is not wool or rough fabric)

2.- Sun exposure can also be a contributing factor so make sure to apply sunscreen before going outside.

Look for sunscreens contains zinc oxide or titanium dioxide as these ingredients are the least irritating
Look for sunscreens that have broad-spectrum protection and at least SPF 30.
Sunscreen that contains silicone can also help. (Check the list of ingredients. Silicone may be called dimethicone or cyclomethicone.)

Skincare to follow if you have Rosacea

Rosacea is a common skin condition that often begins with a tendency to blush or flush more easily than others.

Over time, redness may become permanent.

Here are some skincare tips you should follow if you have rosacea:

Avoid rubbing or massaging the face.
When using hair spray make sure to not get it on your face.
Keep your skincare routine simple.

When it first develops, rosacea may come and go on its own. Your rosacea may be more easily treated when you first start noticing changes in your skin.

Dr Hiba saved me. I need to see someone urgently about a fast growing/change growth under my eye. Dr Hiba took me in on her break. She did a wonderful job on removing the growth at a sensitive area. My teenage daughter attended having suffered with bouts of regular breakouts which caused her significant concern and distress. Dr Hiba took the time to explain what was causing the problem and gave very pragmatic and honest advice about the treatment pathway. Less than a week later the results are already evident and my daughter; who only last week felt very low about her skin now has hope that she doesn’t need to suffer any longer.
